(see contract model)

what is the follow-up form?

Top The follow-up form is an accreditative document issued by the Junta de Residus for the transfer of used oil from the producer to the transport company

what is Alcover?

See geographical localization Alcover is a town in the region of Alt Camp (Tarragona) situated on the C-14 road, about 12 km from Reus and 20 km from Tarragona

how is used oil accepted or rejected?

Top
In 100% of the collections carried out, the following are analysed:
punto.gif (172 bytes) PCB and PCT content
punto.gif (172 bytes) chlorine content
punto.gif (172 bytes) water content
punto.gif (172 bytes) in some cases, other parameters
If the results are correct the oil is accepted for re-refining treatment
What if the results are not correct?
The clauses of the contract for services rendered are applied:
a)   if the PCB and PCT content is superior to 50 ppm, the producer who has caused the contamination is responsible for the correct elimination of the oil that has been contamined, up to 32 m³
b)

if the water or chlorine content is higher than that established for free collection, according to the prices stated in the contract for services rendered, these are invoiced. The producer has 4 days after CATOR's report to state their disagreement wih CATOR's analysis, and then has time to to make a counter-analysis of the sealed sample left during collection.

What happens when the oil contains more than 50 ppm of PCB’s and PCT’s?
It is stored in a waiting tank. The oil has to be eliminated via a controlled system of incineration, which is currently carried out in France.

what is a PCB? and a PCT?

PCB means polychlorinated biphenyl
PCT means polychlorinated triphenyl
These are chemical products, synthetic oils, which were used for many years due to the fact that they are not inflammable - they are safe fluids. Over the years, however, it has been shown that they have a high level of toxicity, and that they are mutagenic and carcinogenic. Their production and use has been prohibited for many years now.
