procedure

The logistical
management necessary to offer this service to all
companies anywhere in Catalonia is coordinated from
our central offices in Barcelona.

call
reception
Call reception is centralised in
our Barcelona offices where more than 100 calls
from used oil producers are managed daily.
First of all we check to see if the company is
registered in the collection service, and their
details are introduced in the computing system.

If
the company calling is not registered, we take down
all the necessary information to transmit it to the Catalan
Waste Agency, which is the body that will assign
the company a producer code, to be used in the follow-up
form. |

planning
routes
CATOR has
developed a computing system that permits the organisation
of routes for the lorries that will have to collect
oil all over Catalonia. Each lorry will make one or
two trips per day.
The computing system classifies the producers according
to the geographical area they belong to, and they
are assigned a vehicle based in the nearest zone
(North Catalonia, Central Catalonia, South Catalonia).
Oil is collected within
a period of 7 to 10 days. The maximum period permitted
is 15 days from the moment of petition, according
to the contract established with the Junta de Residus.
how
is the collection process carried out?
Oil collection
is always carried out with cistern lorries designed
by CATOR and equipped with automatic intake pumps,
correctly authorised by the Catalan
Waste Agency and officially approved for transport
of dangerous materials. Additionally, all drivers
are specialists trained in this type of transport.
Drums
and deposits are never transported.
During
loading, two samples of the product are taken
that will be used for later follow-up
One
sample is taken to our laboratory in order
to analyse its compostion |
the
other is given to the producer so that
an analysis can be carried out if anomalies
are detected in the first analysis.
on
collection, documentation is given to the producer
that certifies that the oil has been handed
over

Once
the lorry arrives at the treatment plant, a sample
is taken from the lorry, and together with the individual
samples from each producer, is analysed in the laboratory
and is then accepted
or rejected.
If the product is accepted
it is transferred to a storage tank for its posterior
valorization.

of re-refining process).
